What to expect taking part in the Cleveland Hike
Here’s our comprehensive guide on what to expect at each point throughout the event. As ever, if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and a member of our team will happily answer any queries.
Friday 20th June
Friday night camp opens
For any teams travelling from further afield, we open the campsite and welcome entrants to stay on site to be ready for the event start on Saturday morning.
Saturday 21st June
Arrive at the start
After entering the hike, you will be given a start time for Saturday morning. All teams taking part in the full hike or Saturday day event will set off between 7:30am and 9am.

Kit Check
Before setting off, each team must pass a kit check. This is just our team making sure you have adequate supplies and equipment to compete in the hike. Don’t worry, we send you the kit list well in advance, however you can see the list here too.

The adventure begins
After entering the hike, you will be given a start time for Saturday morning. All teams taking part in the full hike or Saturday day event will set off between 7:30am and 9am.

Saturday's Event
Throughout Saturday, teams will cover 4-5 checkpoints, covering a distance of roughly 20 miles. At each checkpoint there will be water and support available - and don’t forget the checkpoint challenges too!

Overnight camp / Day event finish
At the end of the first day’s hiking, teams will arrive at the Saturday overnight camp (location to be announced). Here teams competing on the day event will finish the event. Teams taking part in the full two day event will camp here. Toilet facilities and fresh water are available on site.
Sunday 22nd June
Day 2 beings
Teams will be given an allocated start time, based on their position in the event and hiking times from the Saturday. For those competing in the 1 day 10 mile event, they will start the from here.

Sunday's Event
Sunday’s event is roughly 10 miles in distance covering 4 checkpoints. The same as Saturday, water and support is available throughout the day.

The Finish!
The Cleveland Hike will finish at Danby village hall, with teams arriving from 12pm onwards.

Award Ceremony
30 minutes after the last team finishes (usually before 2pm), the Hike team will present the results of the hike. Each team will receieve a certificate and position details. The top 3 teams in each competition will receive medals, trophies and gift bags from our sponsors.
